Are you one of those having a strong inclination towards handloom when it comes to fashion? A mix of traditional handloom and high fashion is the highlight these days. The level of creativity and sophistication achieved by Indian handloom is supreme and beyond the reach of modern machinery techniques.

Loom Mool is one of the latest addition focusing on sustainable Indian fabrics, striking a balance of urban style with time honored Indian art.

SEWA Bharat, Self-employed Women’s Association of India, a forty year old trade union, which has created many stories for empowering women from the marginal societies has take another step forward this time. Supporting fabric artists from Bihar in association with other handicraft cooperatives by SEWA Bharat, Loom Mool is a start to its lifestyle brand.

Promoting the cause of women empowerment SEWA Bharat has already set up silk cooperatives in Bhagalpur Bihar, from where the silk is directly sourced and transformed into chic collection catering to the style trend setters by none other than Meera Saxena. Meera, the mastermind, behind this lifestyle brand, is the one turning this simple fabric into the most fashionable and elegant collection for today’s urban youth.

Meera who is the Creative Director of Loom Mool has been a brand consultant with many high end and luxury brands in London and is all set to take this brand International with an Indian appeal.

The brand has an interesting connect where Loom is short for Handloom and Mool, while being an anagram to loom, also means ‘essence’ in Hindi. The brand translates itself to a soulful, craft-inspired, easy and trendy yet classic line of products. Each product on the shelf of the quaint HauzKhas Village store has a story to be told, which makes the product worthy and memorable.

Loom Mool being true to its name brings in products made from  traditional crafts which have a strong contemporary blend. Their extensive product line ranges from apparel, accessories to home furnishings. The have an extensive range of silk and cotton scarves and stoles which are a must in ones wardrobe. If you are a strong lover of ethnicity then the store is a must visit for its exclusive range of hand-woven silk saris.

What I really liked about the collection by Loom Mool was the simplicity that is well blended with style. It is chic!

The way they have used the old age techniques to create the contemporary style is commendable. The fabric is very lightweight and the feel once you wear it will leave you with compliments pouring in wherever you go.

I strongly feel that their collection is primarily about playing with colours and the textures of the fabric to give it the perfect look which blends well with the fall of the fabric. And that is what does wonders to the collection J.

Most of the prints consist of block patterns, tie-die, geometrical shapes, or simply the neon silk coloured fabric which is stylish in itself. The collection at the store is a mix of trendy crop tops/shirts, lose kurtis or shirts, kerchiefs etc.

You will see the SEWA philosophy reflecting in every corner of the store which is the straightforwardness with a strong focus on the diverse product range.

However, you would want to indulge yourself in the collection without being out of the store having atleast one of it in your wardrobe, the price might just leave you thinking!
